Preparing for the MAPP

 

Written Examination

  1. Develop a structured study time that offers you flexibility to your daily schedule.
  2. Research has found that organizing your study area keeps you focused on the source material while enhancing reading comprehension abilities.
  3. Don’t jump from subject to subject. Choose a subject and stick with it!
  4. Study in 50-55 minutes intervals.
  5. Get fresh air or exercise between study times.

 

Physical Agility Test (PAT)

  1. Stretch, stretch and stretch again!
  2. Power walking or jogging will help build lower body strength and endurance.
  3. Practice breathing techniques while running, stopping, lifting and bending.
  4. Practice proper lifting techniques.
  5. If you are unclear to the directions given by the field proctor before beginning the actual timed event – ASK for clarification before starting!
  6. Have a good working knowledge of fire service tools, hoses and appliances.
